Photo from the ad that convinced us we wanted the cabin...

Our first trip to the cabin after we bought it February 27, 2004.

this is for
storage and emergencies...)

because of the high water table.

The living room - gas fireplace and log futon.

Cabin in June 2006. You
can't see it very well in this shot
but we had a big fir tree next to the
shed cut down
this year to prevent it falling on the house...

View from the lake.

We finally made it to the
top of Eagle Mountain,
highest point in Minnesota - 2,301 feet.

The view from Honeymoon Bluff, off the Gunflint Trail.

We had a new window put in in October, 2006.

The view from inside - this is a new dining area.

We got an old church pew for
the dining area and
brought it up in March, 2007. F sanded and stained it.

Moving the dining area to the
corner meant getting a new TV and
DVD player. TV is mounted on the wall.

Dan had been looking for a bell
for a couple of years -
finally got one - a Deer Bell...

Found a bell for the front door, too.

This is the first time
we've seen the lake ice melting.
Rosie, Ben & Nicole's dog, came to
live with us for most of 2007.

May 07

We woke up on May 20th to a sugar-coating of snow on the deck.

Felicity finishing the new dining table.

New table, bench, and counter.

New counter.

Great view from new window.

High Falls, Pigeon River on the Canadian border.

F took this arty pic.

Ron next door took Dan
fishing on his birthday.
We had lunch afterward with Ron and Nancy. F
and D ate the fish that evening.
Ben, Nicole, Eliza, Franny, Matt,
Phyllis, and Camilla
came to visit at the cabin in July, 2007.

Eliza caught her first fish off the end of the dock.

We had a campfire, s'mores, and sparklers on the 4th of July...

...stories in the evening...

...swimming in the lake...
...canoe rides...

...and a paddling pool in the front yard.

We took the gondola to the top
of Moose Mountain
at Lutsen ski resort...

...and rode the Alpine Slide.

Canoed into Pine Lake - magnificent

Lovely evening on Caribou

Webster and Rosie among the daisies

Big storm around October 17, 2007, blew this
tree down,
taking out power and phone. Mike Rose got the electric
people
there right away - what a good neighbor! - and Cascade got
the phone
reconnected. We went up the
weekend of Oct. 27-28
to close the cabin for the winter, and chainsawed most of
the tree - with the help of Scott Ingalls, next door.
(Renters sent us the photo.)
